A Six-Day Culinary Journey Through Peru’s Gastronomic Capital 5–10 March 2027
Optional Machu Picchu Extension | 10–12 March 2027

Peru has firmly established itself as one of the world’s great culinary destinations. Nowhere is this more evident than in Lima, a city where the Pacific Ocean, the Andes Mountains and the Amazon rainforest converge to create one of the richest pantries on Earth.

Home to three restaurants that have all been ranked amongst the very best in the world, Lima has become a true pilgrimage for food lovers. No other city in South America boasts such a remarkable concentration of internationally celebrated restaurants, making it one of the most exciting culinary destinations on the planet.

Over six unforgettable days, we’ll explore the restaurants, markets and neighbourhoods that have transformed Lima into the gastronomic capital of South America. From internationally acclaimed tasting menus to bustling seafood markets and neighbourhood gems loved by locals, this journey has been designed to showcase the extraordinary diversity of modern Peruvian cuisine.

We’ll dine at many of Peru’s most celebrated restaurants, including Central, Maido, Kjolle, Mayta, Mérito, Cosme and La Mar. Together, these restaurants represent the very best of contemporary Peruvian gastronomy, each offering its own unique interpretation of the country’s exceptional ingredients and remarkable biodiversity.

Beyond the dining rooms, we’ll discover the Lima that many visitors never experience. Accompanied by expert local guides, we’ll explore the city’s vibrant markets, hidden food neighbourhoods and colourful streets, gaining a deeper understanding of the traditions, history and cultures that have shaped one of the world’s most exciting food scenes.

During both a daytime and evening guided culinary experience, we’ll uncover everything from humble street food and traditional cevicherías to contemporary bars and local favourites known only to those who call Lima home. Along the way you’ll discover the ingredients, flavours and stories that make Peruvian cuisine so distinctive.

Throughout the week we’ll explore the remarkable influence of Peru’s diverse landscapes on its cuisine. From native potatoes and ancient grains cultivated high in the Andes to Amazonian fruits, herbs and cacao, alongside some of the finest seafood found anywhere in the world, every meal tells the story of a country blessed with extraordinary natural abundance.

This is far more than a collection of exceptional restaurants.

It is an immersive journey through one of the world’s most exciting culinary cultures.

This journey has been deliberately scheduled to begin immediately following The Best of Mexico City & Oaxaca, allowing guests to combine both tours into one extraordinary Latin American culinary adventure.

Whether you choose to join us for Lima alone or continue your journey after Mexico, this itinerary has been designed to showcase the very best of Peruvian gastronomy while complementing the experiences enjoyed during our Mexican tour.

Arrival Day – Welcome to Lima

Welcome to Peru

Whether you're joining us directly from The Best of Mexico City & Oaxaca or arriving in Lima independently, today has been designed to allow everyone to settle in and begin the next chapter of our Latin American culinary journey at a relaxed pace.

Your accommodation for the next five nights is the elegant Country Club Lima Hotel, one of Peru's most iconic luxury hotels. Situated in the exclusive district of San Isidro, the hotel combines timeless elegance with exceptional service and provides the perfect base from which to explore Lima's extraordinary restaurant scene.

Guests arriving from Mexico will already have experienced an unforgettable week together, while those joining us in Peru will have the opportunity to meet the rest of the group in relaxed surroundings before our culinary adventure begins.

The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy at your leisure. You may wish to unwind after your journey, take advantage of the hotel's facilities, or explore the beautiful neighbourhood of San Isidro, renowned for its leafy parks, elegant architecture and welcoming cafés.

This evening we'll gather in the hotel for welcome drinks, giving everyone the opportunity to get to know one another, discuss the exciting days ahead and raise a glass to the beginning of another unforgettable culinary journey.

As guests may be arriving on a variety of international and connecting flights throughout the day, no meal has been scheduled this evening, allowing everyone the flexibility to arrive comfortably and settle in before our restaurant programme begins tomorrow.

Tomorrow, our exploration of one of the world's greatest food cities truly begins.

La Mar

Day One – Lunch at La Mar

Our culinary journey begins at one of Lima's most iconic restaurants.

Situated in the vibrant district of Miraflores, La Mar has become synonymous with the very best of Peruvian seafood. Created by internationally acclaimed chef Gastón Acurio, the restaurant has played a pivotal role in introducing the world to Peru's extraordinary coastal cuisine and remains one of the city's most sought-after lunch reservations.

Unlike many of the restaurants we'll experience throughout the week, La Mar celebrates the vibrant, relaxed spirit of a traditional cebichería. The atmosphere is lively, informal and unmistakably Peruvian, where exceptionally fresh seafood and bold, vibrant flavours take centre stage.

Our lunch will be enjoyed à la carte, allowing guests the freedom to explore the menu according to their own tastes. From Peru's world-famous ceviche and delicate tiraditos to beautifully prepared shellfish, grilled seafood and classic Nikkei-inspired dishes, every plate showcases the remarkable quality of ingredients landed fresh from the Pacific Ocean each morning.

There could be no better introduction to Peruvian cuisine. Before exploring the country's extraordinary biodiversity and world-renowned tasting menus over the coming days, La Mar reminds us that some of Peru's greatest culinary pleasures are rooted in simplicity, freshness and an unwavering respect for exceptional ingredients.

Following lunch, there will be time to explore the beautiful coastal district of Miraflores before we continue our journey through one of the world's most exciting gastronomic capitals.

Maido

Day One – Dinner at Maido

Our first evening takes us to one of the most celebrated restaurants on the planet.

Named The World's Best Restaurant 2025 by The World's 50 Best Restaurants, Maido is the masterpiece of chef Mitsuharu "Micha" Tsumura, whose extraordinary interpretation of Nikkei cuisine has helped redefine modern Peruvian gastronomy.

Nikkei cuisine was born from the arrival of Japanese immigrants to Peru in the late nineteenth century, combining the precision and discipline of Japanese cooking with Peru's exceptional seafood, native ingredients and vibrant flavours. Nowhere has this unique culinary tradition been elevated more successfully than at Maido.

Guests will experience the restaurant's acclaimed tasting menu, where every course reflects Peru's remarkable biodiversity and the seamless fusion of two distinct culinary cultures. From ingredients sourced in the Amazon rainforest and high Andes to the freshest seafood landed from the Pacific Ocean, each dish showcases the creativity, precision and warmth that have made Maido one of the world's most admired dining destinations.

Despite its global accolades, Maido remains refreshingly welcoming. Its name comes from a traditional Japanese greeting meaning "Welcome", the first word every guest hears on arrival—a fitting introduction to an evening where exceptional hospitality is just as memorable as the food itself.

There could be no finer way to begin our exploration of Lima's extraordinary restaurant scene. Having started the day discovering the freshness and simplicity of Peru's coastal cuisine at La Mar, this evening we'll experience how those same exceptional ingredients are transformed into one of the most celebrated dining experiences in the world.

Cosme

Day Two – Lunch at Cosme

Following an unforgettable evening at Maido, today's lunch offers a completely different perspective on contemporary Peruvian cuisine.

Located in the elegant district of San Isidro, Cosme is the creation of chef James Berckemeyer, whose philosophy is beautifully simple: to serve food that is comforting, familiar and deeply satisfying, while applying the techniques and precision of a world-class kitchen. After gaining experience in some of Europe's most celebrated restaurants, including El Celler de Can Roca and Arzak, Berckemeyer returned to Peru to create a restaurant that celebrates the flavours of home rather than formality.

The restaurant's menu is inspired by the recipes and memories of everyday Peruvian life, elevated through exceptional seasonal ingredients and refined technique. Rather than focusing on elaborate presentation, Cosme allows flavour to take centre stage, producing dishes that are both comforting and quietly sophisticated. It is this honest approach that has earned Cosme a place among Latin America's leading restaurants.

The atmosphere perfectly reflects the cuisine—relaxed, welcoming and full of character. It feels less like a formal fine dining restaurant and more like the neighbourhood restaurant everyone wishes they had close to home.

Lunch at Cosme reminds us that extraordinary cooking isn't always about complexity. Sometimes the most memorable meals are those that combine exceptional ingredients, impeccable technique and the simple pleasure of sharing delicious food around the table.

Mayta

Day Two – Dinner at Mayta

This evening we'll dine at one of Lima's most exciting contemporary restaurants.

Under the direction of chef Jaime Pesaque, Mayta has earned international acclaim for its bold and imaginative interpretation of modern Peruvian cuisine. Consistently recognised amongst Latin America's finest restaurants, Mayta celebrates Peru's extraordinary biodiversity while embracing contemporary techniques and elegant presentation.

The restaurant's philosophy is built upon exploration. Drawing inspiration from Peru's coastline, mountains and Amazon rainforest, every menu showcases exceptional ingredients sourced from across the country, many of which remain unfamiliar outside Peru. Through thoughtful cooking and meticulous attention to detail, each dish tells the story of Peru's remarkable landscapes and culinary heritage.

Guests will enjoy Mayta's acclaimed tasting menu, where vibrant flavours, beautiful presentation and technical precision combine to create a dining experience that is both innovative and unmistakably Peruvian. Every course demonstrates why Lima continues to be regarded as one of the world's most exciting cities for food lovers.

The restaurant itself reflects this philosophy perfectly. Contemporary yet welcoming, its elegant dining room provides the ideal setting in which to experience one of Peru's most progressive kitchens.

Following yesterday's celebration of Nikkei cuisine at Maido and today's relaxed lunch at Cosme, dinner at Mayta offers another fascinating perspective on modern Peruvian gastronomy. It is a restaurant that looks confidently towards the future while remaining deeply connected to the country's extraordinary natural larder and culinary traditions.

Central

Day Three – Lunch at Central

Today we experience what many consider to be the defining restaurant of modern gastronomy.

Repeatedly recognised amongst the very finest restaurants in the world, including being named The World's Best Restaurant, Central is the visionary creation of chef Virgilio Martínez and chef Pía León. More than simply a restaurant, Central is an exploration of Peru itself—a culinary journey through one of the most biodiverse countries on Earth.

Rather than organising its menus by ingredient or cooking style, Central takes guests on a remarkable expedition through Peru's diverse ecosystems. Each course represents a different altitude, from the depths of the Pacific Ocean to the peaks of the Andes and the heart of the Amazon rainforest. Every ingredient has been carefully researched and sourced through Mater Iniciativa, the restaurant's pioneering research project dedicated to discovering and preserving Peru's extraordinary biodiversity.

Guests will experience Central's celebrated tasting menu, where many of the ingredients will be completely unfamiliar, yet every dish tells a story of Peru's landscapes, cultures and traditions. It is a dining experience unlike any other, challenging conventional ideas of fine dining while remaining deeply connected to the country from which it draws its inspiration.

The restaurant itself is calm, elegant and understated, allowing the food—and the stories behind it—to take centre stage. Every course invites conversation, curiosity and discovery, making lunch at Central as intellectually fascinating as it is delicious.

Having already explored Lima's vibrant seafood culture, Nikkei cuisine and contemporary restaurants, today's experience brings everything together. Central is not simply another outstanding restaurant; it is a celebration of Peru itself, offering an unforgettable insight into the country's extraordinary natural and cultural richness.

Day Three – Discovering the Flavours of Lima

Day Three – Discovering the Flavours of Lima

Following lunch at Central, this evening we'll experience a completely different side of Peru's capital with a privately guided culinary and cultural tour through some of Lima's most fascinating neighbourhoods.

Accompanied by our expert local guide, we'll explore the distinct character of Miraflores, Barranco and San Isidro, discovering how each has helped shape Lima into one of the world's great gastronomic cities. Along the way we'll delve into the stories, traditions and history that lie behind the capital's remarkable food culture.

Throughout the evening we'll enjoy a carefully curated series of food and drink experiences, each chosen to showcase a different aspect of Peruvian cuisine. We'll sample exceptional organic Peruvian coffee, discover the astonishing diversity of the country's native fruits during a guided tasting at a traditional market, and enjoy one of Peru's most iconic cocktails with a classic Pisco Sour experience.

Our culinary journey continues with a selection of outstanding local dishes, from vibrant superfoods and traditional specialities to contemporary Peruvian cuisine, culminating in a memorable dining experience overlooking the spectacular Huaca Pucllana—an ancient pre-Incan ceremonial site that has stood at the heart of Lima for over 1,500 years.

As we wander through the colourful streets of Barranco, Lima's bohemian and artistic quarter, we'll discover why this vibrant neighbourhood has become one of the city's most beloved destinations, with its colonial architecture, street art and lively café culture providing the perfect backdrop to an unforgettable evening.

This experience is about far more than simply eating. It offers a deeper understanding of Lima itself—its people, its history and the extraordinary cultural influences that have helped transform Peru into one of the world's great culinary nations.

Kjolle

Day Four – Lunch at Kjolle

Today's lunch takes us to one of Peru's most exciting restaurants and the culinary vision of one of the world's most influential chefs.

Created by Pía León, Kjolle has quickly established itself as one of the finest restaurants in Latin America. While Pía is widely recognised for her work alongside Virgilio Martínez at Central, Kjolle is entirely her own expression of modern Peruvian cuisine—one that celebrates creativity, colour and the extraordinary diversity of Peru's native ingredients.

Rather than following the concept of altitude that defines Central, Kjolle takes a more intuitive approach. The menu is inspired by the seasons, exceptional local produce and the relationships Pía has built with farmers, fishermen and artisan producers across Peru. Many of the ingredients are rarely encountered outside the country, offering guests the opportunity to experience flavours, textures and colours unlike anywhere else in the world.

Guests will enjoy Kjolle's acclaimed tasting menu, where every course showcases the beauty and abundance of Peru's natural larder. The cooking is refined yet expressive, balancing technical precision with warmth, generosity and a genuine sense of discovery.

The restaurant itself is bright, contemporary and effortlessly elegant, creating a relaxed atmosphere that allows the cuisine to take centre stage. Every dish reflects Pía León's unique perspective, demonstrating why she has become one of the most respected chefs of her generation.

Following yesterday's remarkable experience at Central, lunch at Kjolle provides a fascinating continuation of the story. Together, the two restaurants showcase different interpretations of the same extraordinary country—one driven by exploration and research, the other by creativity, instinct and a profound respect for Peru's incomparable biodiversity.

Mérito

Day Four – Dinner at Mérito

This evening we visit one of Lima's most admired and original restaurants.

Located in the vibrant district of Barranco, Mérito is the creation of Venezuelan-born chef Juan Luis Martínez, whose thoughtful and deeply personal style of cooking has earned widespread acclaim throughout Latin America. By combining his own culinary heritage with Peru's extraordinary natural larder, Martínez has created a restaurant that feels both innovative and completely at home in Lima.

The menu changes constantly with the seasons, allowing the finest ingredients to dictate each day's cooking. Native Peruvian produce sits comfortably alongside subtle Venezuelan influences, resulting in dishes that are elegant, imaginative and full of character. Rather than relying on complexity for its own sake, every plate is guided by balance, flavour and a genuine respect for exceptional ingredients.

Guests will enjoy one of Lima's most exciting dining experiences, where creativity is matched by warmth and understated hospitality. The intimate dining room creates a relaxed atmosphere, allowing the food—and the stories behind it—to take centre stage.

Dinner at Mérito provides yet another fascinating perspective on contemporary Peruvian gastronomy. Throughout the week we've discovered how Peru's remarkable biodiversity inspires some of the world's finest chefs. Here we also see how the country's openness to different cultures and traditions continues to shape one of the most dynamic food scenes anywhere in the world.

As our journey through Lima's extraordinary restaurants draws towards its conclusion, Mérito reminds us that great cuisine is never static—it is constantly evolving, while remaining firmly rooted in the exceptional ingredients and traditions that make Peru so unique.

A Final Taste of Lima

Day Five – A Final Taste of Lima

Our final morning together offers one last opportunity to discover the everyday flavours that have helped make Lima one of the world's great food cities.

Accompanied by our local guide, we'll explore another fascinating side of the Peruvian capital through a relaxed culinary experience centred around one of the country's most important meals—breakfast.

Away from the fine dining restaurants that have defined much of our journey, we'll visit carefully selected local establishments where Limeños begin their day. Along the way we'll discover traditional breakfast dishes, exceptional Peruvian coffee and the ingredients that have become staples of everyday life in the city. As always, our guide will share the stories, traditions and cultural influences that continue to shape Peru's remarkable food culture.

More than simply a final meal, this experience provides the perfect opportunity to reflect on an extraordinary few days spent exploring one of the world's most exciting gastronomic destinations. From the Pacific coastline and the remarkable biodiversity celebrated at Central and Kjolle to Lima's vibrant markets, neighbourhoods and cafés, we've experienced the many different faces of modern Peruvian cuisine.

For guests concluding their journey in Lima, the tour officially ends following the breakfast experience, with the remainder of the day free for onward travel.

For those continuing on our optional Machu Picchu Extension, we'll transfer to the airport during the early afternoon for our included Business Class flight to Cusco, where the next chapter of our Peruvian adventure begins. After allowing time to acclimatise, we'll journey into the Sacred Valley before visiting the breathtaking Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, bringing an unforgettable conclusion to our exploration of Peru.

Whether your journey ends in Lima or continues into the Andes, we hope you'll leave with a deeper appreciation of Peru's extraordinary landscapes, remarkable people and one of the world's most exciting culinary cultures.
